About Drighlington Brass Band

Founded in 1976 as a training band for young people in Drighlington and the surrounding area, Drighlington Brass Band is now a successful and well respected British Brass Band.

Set on the foothills of the Pennine hills, the band is an active part of the world renowned Yorkshire Area, notoriously at the fore front of the brass banding movement.

Popularity in our concert work and success in our contesting, is achieved through the hard work and dedication of 28 amateur musicians and supporting staff who under the leadership of our Musical Director, come together to provide ever higher standards in musical performance.

We are pleased to announce that January 2010 saw the Senior Band return to the Championship Section on the contesting circuit, once again competing alongside some of the most famous names in the brass band world including Grimethorpe, Black Dyke and Brighouse & Rastrick to name but a few.

Unified in music!

As with many brass bands, all of our players are amateur musicians dedicated to performing music, to the very highest quality, whilst holding down regular jobs and family lives.

The players come from all walks of life, including Nurses, Computer Programmers, Pub Landlords, Teachers, University Lecturers, University Students, Secretarial, Engineers and Skilled Labourers plus many more trades and vocations. However, when with the band only one way of life seems to matter - the bandsman (and bandswomen of course).

At your next visit to one of our concerts see if you can tell who is the fireman and who is the Insurance Claims Inspector!
