Founded in 1976, the Drighlington Brass Band is a thriving, successful and highly popular traditional Brass Band, comprising of a Championship Section Brass Band, a Youth Band and a flourishing beginners group, all based in the village of Drighlington, between Leeds & Bradford in West Yorkshire, England.

For many people, even including some avid Brass enthusiasts, some of the instruments or names in a traditional British-style Brass Band can be slightly 'unusual'.

Over the decades, the Brass Band has evolved and created it's own unique language and structure, this 'Rough Guide' hopes to shed some light on them. We hope you will find them interesting, useful and even enjoyable as you have a look around.
